Welcome back to another post in our PM2 series, where each week we focus on another specific area of this easy to use and open-source methodology.
Last week we discussed the pillar of Governance and how roles and responsibilities are organised within this management system. Go back and have a look if you missed it- it is worth a read.
This week we are focusing on another key pillar of this PM2 methodology and this time it is the artefacts.
So, what exactly are artefacts in this context?
Well, artefacts are ways of defining, communicating and managing your project. PM2 provides a collection of templates for documentation as well as guides on how to best use them. They can be considered as the “how” of project management.
Each phase of the project has a corresponding series of artefacts, as does monitoring and control. These include templates for plans, agenda, reports, matrix, checklists, logs, forms, minutes of meetings etc.
The artefacts are there to help us to focus on and clearly see the project requirements. They help us to share and communicate information and allow for important decisions to be registered among other things. Essentially, they tell us what we need to deliver in each moment of the project and provide us with the tools that we need to do it.
As with many other aspects of this methodology, the artefacts can be adapted and personalised to meet the needs and requirements of your project.
And there you have it.
Remeber, we will have a new post out next week so follow our posts to stay up to date on our latest content!
