TASC Project Update: ON. In this month’s TASC Project Executive Board Meeting, we presented the initial structure of our Moodle platform. Moreover, we discussed the progress of course content development and highlighted the growing engagement within our Community of Practice. This is an important milestone since the TASC project continues to pave the way for excellence in teacher education and collaboration across Europe.
The TASC Project (Teacher Academy Sustainable Communication) is a forward-looking initiative. It aims to provide teachers with skills to enhance their capacity for sustainable communication. According to the project summary, TASC’s mission is to combat challenges like social polarization, exclusion, and violence. This is achieved by promoting non-violent and intercultural communication skills among teachers. In addition, by creating a network of twelve partners across seven European countries, TASC sets the foundation for a collaborative and resilient educational landscape.
Moodle Platform Development and Course Content
The initial structure of the Moodle platform was presented during the meeting. Furthermore, the platform will host a training program that includes a joint module worth 20 ECTS on sustainable communication. This module is an essential foundation for enabling teachers to prevent and reduce violence, discrimination, and bullying in classrooms. Additionally, this platform will facilitate mobility models integrated into teacher education and professional development, promoting a green and inclusive approach.
The course content development is advancing steadily. Specifically, it focuses on tackling the gaps identified through the needs analysis performed at the start of the TASC project. This analysis, as detailed in the TASC project technical description, pointed out the need to equip educators with tools to respond effectively to social and political polarization. Consequently, the Moodle platform’s offerings are designed to foster intercultural communication. This will help teachers overcome biases and engage meaningfully with diverse student populations.
Community of Practice Engagement
A key aspect of the TASC project is the establishment of a Community of Practice. This is a space where teachers, educators, and school leaders can collaborate, share insights, and grow together. During the Executive Board Meeting, it was noted that engagement in this community has been growing steadily. Therefore, this reflects educators’ commitment to contribute to and benefit from collective knowledge-sharing. The TASC Community of Practice is a cornerstone of the project. It supports its members in becoming reflective, agile educators who promote peace and inclusion.
Upcoming Plans and Key Takeaways
Looking ahead, the TASC project is preparing for its next in-person meeting this December. During this meeting, plans for the roll-out of the Moodle courses and engagement strategies for our Community of Practice will be discussed. This meeting aims to bring stakeholders closer, providing opportunities for deeper engagement and collaboration.
