We are excited to announce the launch of Purple Padel, funded by the ERASMUS-SPORT program! 🎾 Yesterday, we held our Kick-Off Meeting with our partners Padel Mauri (Spain) and Associação Desportiva Racketspro (Portugal).
The project aims to promote gender equality through padel, encouraging women of all ages to participate in this dynamic and inclusive sport. Despite padel’s growing popularity, female participation remains significantly lower than that of men. Purple Padel seeks to bridge this gap by creating a supportive environment that empowers women.
Why Padel and Why Now?
Padel, a unique and fast-growing sport, is ideal for building social connections, enhancing fitness, and fostering teamwork. However, many barriers still deter women from engaging in this activity. Purple Padel Erasmus Sport offers beginner-friendly courses and community tournaments designed to welcome and support women in sports.
Goals of Purple Padel
Led by Meraki Projectes in collaboration with Padel Mauri and Racketspro, this project pursues three core objectives:
- Boost Female Participation: Through free introductory courses and targeted outreach campaigns.
- Promote Gender Equality: By hosting Women’s Day and European Sports Week tournaments.
- Create a Best Practices Guide: To inspire and enable similar initiatives in other sports organizations.
Innovation and Sustainability
The project integrates modern tools like Padel Record, which helps document activities and share progress online, enhancing visibility. The creation of a Best Practices Guide ensures long-term sustainability and provides a framework for replication.
